OUR STORY

“Be anything but normal.”

— Robert J. S. T. McCartney

Writing is anything and everything you can imagine.

Let your imagination flow. Perhaps there is the destruction (or rebuilding of civilization), breaking the law (or be it). Delve deep into your dreams, your nightmares, your fears, and whatever it is that makes you happy. Let your thoughts flow, and put them on any medium you deem worthy of sharing with the world. You can try to be normal, conform, or truly be yourself.

“Be anything. . .but normal.”

My goal is to bridge the gap between authors, readers, and publishers. While, ideally, I don’t want to stop there and continue to film, music, and other arts, I will do it one step at a time.

This site is a sanctuary of the bizarre, the strange, and the perspicacious, if you will. To invoke thoughts, and conversation, push the envelope, and more. So many of us hide in a shell, molded to be something that does not feel “comfortable” to us, and is led to believe that we are wrong or are doing wrong because we are different.

While we are not currently accepting submissions, I do not want aspiring folks to feel discouraged or disheartened. Follow your passion, pursue it, and do not stop trying.

Why be someone or something you do not feel comfortable being? Don’t be normal. Be strange! Be crazy! Be bizarre! Be different. Be anything. . .but normal.

Our continuity. . .

2008/2009

  • Robert McCartney creates an epic sci-fi story after a recurring dream inspires him to recount it to Albert J. Debusschere III. Albert suggests Robert write it out. Thus, Robert starts writing and embracing a long-ignored (and misguided) passion.

  • The Ballad of Bud Berkman begins. Inspired by the Buckethead song name and nickname for his grandfather, Robert McCartney creates a story of a former cop turned PI whose family is murdered and is framed. The story is still in progress and aims to wrap up anytime.

  • Numerous short stories, some of which become the basis of Abnormal Side Effects.

  • The Collaborative Pub is conceived as an idea.

2010

  • Lilah’s Guide to Hoyle is conceived in the back alley of the internet. Thanks to an idea, two writing prompts, and a bottle of vodka, Lilah and the gang are created. Lynaly has been penned as the villain thanks to one of the writing prompts, and an auditorium of school kids is sacrificed. What about Beth?

  • The Collaborative Pub goes online but goes down after about a year, as writing becomes the focus.

2011

  • The Lodestone Files begin to take shape. A novelette series designed for the busybody and fast-paced world that we live in.

  • Johnny Nightwalker is created as a result of a drunken stupor. However, the asinine version is scrapped, and instead, the namesake is left. This sci-fi tale of a young man with the power to talk to animals becomes something more than just a humorous tale. However, the original idea is still alive and shelved. The Red Bearon lives on! (Yes, you’re reading that correctly.)

  • Numerous poems and more are created here on.

2012 — 2014

  • More writing and shenanigans happen through this time.

  • Abnormal Side Effects gets another book planned. More poetry and stuff get added. Joy!

2018

  • More stories are done and revisited.

  • Various Working Titles appear! One such is Sinclair Gets His Rolex an unorthodox superhero story.

2019
